Finally back on my bed after a day of visiting my relatives with only 2-hour sleep. Quite proud of myself for surviving until now. Gotta survive somemore until the end of the day so i HOPEFULLY dont get insomnia again. Well, at least my parents are gonna live to a ripe old age cause i kept up all night HAHAHA.
So my purpose here today is to update on my Bali placement/short holiday. Such a shame i can't share photos of the kids and what we do. All in all, it was a wonderful trip that solidified my passion for occupational therapy for paediatrics (i never really had that huge of a passion for OT initially) and taught me that trekking shoes are important.
Reached on a Saturday night and grabbed some dinner with Tyler and Kahlia after checking into the hotel. Got a full body massage too! Made my back super sore but it was sooooo good. Only $7 for an hour. I miss massage so bad now!
Bellerie and i went on a tour for the whole of Sunday. Let the pictures do the narration.

Monday was our first day of placement. Started off with an orientation and icebreakers plus a lunch together by the beach before we split into our groups and headed our separate ways. My group's first stop was Denpasar house, which involved us assisting in ranging and therapy for the children with muscular dystrophy. Really thankful to be on this placement because i got to do many things hands-on. It was so refreshing to see the children smile and laugh at the simplest things! That genuine happiness, something i wished i had but i'm so ashamed to say so because i'm so much more privileged than they are. A good refresher and reminder how blessed we truly are. Everything that gets me upset is so insignificant now.
Tuesday was a visit to the school. We assisted in therapy for the children with special needs. It was an endearing interaction with them. Though it seems like we're just playing with children on the outside, i've learnt to see it in a very OT kind of view. Everything seems so cool now HAHAHA. Thankful for the lunch provided by the school too! The afternoon was spent with Sophie teaching us about developmental delays in children. We did some therapy for the kids at the orphanage too and that's where we met Reiner, who happened to be our kid for our presentation on the last day.
My groupmates were all down with vomiting and food poisoning so we skipped the Wednesday morning session with Sally on M-fun assessment. Thankful that i was alive and kicking still. We went back to the orphanage in the afternoon to assist in some therapy sessions for the children. I love spending time with the kids! They are way too cute.
Thursday morning was spent assisting in therapy at the orphanage again and the afternoon was free for us to prepare for our presentation. Friday morning was spent doing house visits for my group, similar to the first day, assisting in ranging and therapy for children with muscular dystrophy. We headed back to the orphanage after lunch to present the therapy with activities we thought for the child, Reiner, in our case. It felt good to have conducted a session by ourselves! Really thankful for the translators for helping us through the whole period, easing the communication between us and the locals. Can't emphasise enough how great an experience it was because i'm so certain that i want to go into paediatrics now for occupational therapy.
Anyway, Bellerie and I went to visit a bear on Saturday.
Hello Mr Sunbear! :)
Meditating...
GIVE ME FOOOOOD
My new bearfriend
We came back to rest early and had instant noodles for dinner because we had to set off from the hotel at 1.30am that night for the Mount Batur trekking.
WE MADE IT UP ALIVE (AND DOWN ALIVE TOO)
I tried to look nice. I has failed.
BUT THE MOUNTAINS SO PRETTY
The view too good sorry i couldn't control my vanity and you have to see so many of my face
JUST LOOK AT THEM SO MAJESTIC SO GORGEOUS
Risked my life taking photos like this
Found a doggo and monkey friends at the top of the mountain
Spot the monkey
LOOK AT THIS VIEW I CANT EVEN. I TOOK 20 SHOTS OF THE SAME SCENERY I DONT EVEN CARE
Tiny humans heheh
Another shot i risked my life for
One monkey, two monkey
What to do, 3 monkeys! I'm the Monkey King!
It was pretty dangerous going down the mountain because it rained our whole journey and the rocks are really loose. We slipped a couple of times but thankfully we didn't meet with any mishap. We survived!!! It was legitly scary though HAHAHA. Monkeys seemed to enjoy having a meeting on my shoulders too. Love it when they climb on me. I was the only one in tank and fbt then, because i forgot that mountains were supposed to be cold. Almost froze solid from the natural climate + rain HAHAHA oh well, no regrets.
So, that was the trip. I fell asleep while typing this post HAHAHA. Insomnia hasn't been kind to me lately, maybe worse. Have a good Chinese New Year everyone!
